Flemish “Green Deal” for Shared Mobility Launched with 80 Signatories!

Inspired by the Dutch Green Deal on car-sharing, SHARE-North partners Autodelen.net and Taxistop teamed up with Belgian organisations The Shift and The New Drive and launched the “Green Deal Shared Mobility” with the Flemish Government on March 27th, 2017. The aim of this Green Deal is to accelerate the growth of shared mobility (car-sharing, carpooling and bike-sharing) in Flanders by 2020. This first Flemish Green Deal immediately sets a high standard with 80 participating signatories and more than 500 concrete actions to achieve ambitious goals.

Full house at Leiedal, the intercommunal body for regional development in 13 cities and municipalities in South West Flanders. On 15th December 2016, Leiedal hosted its annual ‘Samenkomst’ or gathering: an inspirational meeting by and for the region. Traditionally, it is an evening on which regional policy makers, stakeholders and contributors are invited to be inspired in a wide number of areas. In a mix of workshops and informative markets, one that generated the most interest, was the session on sustainable and shared mobility at business parks.

According to several studies, the market of car-sharing will grow largely in the forthcoming years. The Boston Consulting Group estimated that by 2021, 35 million users will book 1.5 billion minutes of driving time each month and generate annual revenue of €4.7 billion. Europe will be the biggest revenue-generating region, reason enough for Autodelen.net, the Belgian umbrella organisation for of car-sharing, to organise a conference in the city of Ghent on May 13th, 2016.
